June Film Round-Up

With a plethora of eagerly anticipated movies being released this month, we’ve taken a closer look at some of these in our June Film Round-Up.

Edge of Tomorrow (Out Now)

Tom Cruise returns to the big screen in this all-action sci-fi as Lt. Col. Bill Cage – a battle shy solider thrown into uncharted territory when alien invaders attack earth. *Spoiler* stone island hoodie replica After being killed within minutes, Cage miraculously awakens at the start of his fateful day, only to have to fight and die, again and again.

Seemingly caught up in a nightmarish loop, Cage’s battle skills are soon improved under the guidance of Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) – and victory doesn’t seem as futile as it once did.

A Million Ways to Die in the West (Out Now)

After the success of opening movie TED, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane heads to the Wild West in his first starring role as timid sheep farmer Albert Stark.

With death an all too frequent occurrence, lily-livered Stark(Mcfarlane) – joined by A-listers Liam Neeson and Charlize Theron – returns to form in this quirky comedy that offers a familiar strand of humour that will please his regular followers.

Featuring a fantastic cast that includes: Giovanni Ribisi, Neil Patrick Harris and Amanda Seyfried, A Million Ways to Die in the West is sure to be a welcome addition to the Mcfarlane portfolio.

22 Jump Street (6th June)

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are back as undercover cops in this sequel to the much loved 21 Jump Street. The original team are re-united under returning directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller after huge success with ‘The LEGO Movie’.

Expect plenty of laughs and slap-stick humour, as the boys are assigned to investigate a college drugs ring… what could possibly go wrong

Grace of Monaco (6th June)

Nicole Kidman plays Grace Kelly in the story of the much-loved Hollywood actress-turned-princess. After her marriage with Prince Ranier III of Monaco (Tim Roth), Kelly must decide between her career as world famous movie star and her obligation to husband and adopted county.

We’re led into a world that exudes glamour and wealth, with strong performances from both Kidman and the ever-reliable Roth, in what should be an intriguing insight into royal life of a small principality, and the problems faced from wealth and notoriety that comes with the lavish lifestyle.

Jersey Boys (20th June)

Clint Eastwood brings his version of the award-winning Broadway musical to Hollywood. This is the story of the iconic 60’s group The Four Seasons; a rock n roll band that hits the big time thanks to the singing talents of the young Frankie Valli – played by stage star John Lloyd Young.

With links to the mob, inevitable tough times and personality clashes help shape one the biggest bands of the era.
