How Will You #SayItWithSweeney This Valentine’s Day

Finding the perfect place to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your partner can, let’s face it, be a bit of a nightmare. A quick scan of the listing for your city usually throws up way too many options, and you can easily lose hours down the rabbit hole of recommendations, ratings and utterly conflicting reviews.

That’s why this year, we’re encouraging you to #SayItWithSweeney. In time for the occasion, we’re asking our fans, followers, friends and acquaintances for their recommendations for the best places to wine and dine your partner on the 14th. Below you’ll find just a few of the recommendations we’ve received – we’ll be adding to this list over the coming few days, so keep checking back. And we’d love to hear your recommendations for views, restaurants, things to do – just add the #SayItWithSweeney hashtag to your social media post and we’ll investigate

Duck & Waffle

As recommended by Thea McIntosh (Sweeney fan)
One of London’s most Instagrammed restaurants, Duck & Waffle is situated on the 40th floor of the Heron tower in the heart of the City, and has unsurprisingly spectacular views across London (as well as an excellent cocktail menu) and some of the best sharing plates we’ve come across. Taking on such incredible heights and views calls only for a shoe of replicable finesse: our Piva Chestnut leather and suede slip-on shoe fuses a classic and rather elegant rounded toe last shape with a fresh blend of modern elements

Sauter Cigars

As recommended by Nancy Short (@macchinaclub)
Mayfair’s Mount Street is a luxury emporium haven and this infamous store stocks some of the rarest and best cigars in the world. It might not be a conventional start to a date, but who wants a conventional date Nancy recommends heading to nearby Hush for a stone island beanie white Hendricks high tea and “some footsie” afterwards. Needless to say a great pair of Oliver Sweeney shoes would, we’re sure, add to your Valentine’s footsie… and what better shoe than our striking Gio Purple suede wholecut Oxford

Grand Pacific

As recommended by Spinningfields(@Spinningfields)
Australia might not be on the tip of your tongue when you think about food, but its position on the edge of the Pacific rim means that it’s a melting pot for a fusion of foods from pretty much everywhere. Grand Pacific does this fusion particularly fantastically, with dishes influenced by Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Southeast Asian and homegrown Aussie cuisine. It’s also conveniently located just a stonesthrow from our Spinningfields boutique, should you wish to get your Sweeney fix in too. Keeping with the fusion theme, our Clopton Tan Derby, with its individual map printed canvas panels against a tan leather upper, is a discerning choice that will show your date your eye for detail.

White Rabbit

As recommended by Charlie Clark, Sweeney fan
London’s Dalston may be one of the most self-consciously trendy districts in the world, but it also has hidden gems that eschew the pretension in favour of just great food. White Rabbit excels in this, with unbelievably delicious small plates using fresh seafood, deliciously unusual combinations of vegetables and meats and a wine list to die for. The kind of place where the plates become the conversation, with plenty of late night local options for your dancing shoes. With its modern, lightweight Fin Project sole, our Ashby Russet Oxford brogue will ensure you maintain a spring in your step all night long and won’t look too formal or dated, for the start of your evening.

The Big Easy

As recommended by Matthew Pickles, Sweeney fan
For something a bit more relaxed, Matthew Pickles recommends Covent Garden’s The Big Easy, an American-style lobster shack serving BBQ food and great live Blues. Perfect for sinking a few drinks and a hearty lunch, then Mr. Pickles suggests taking a taxi to Westminster pier, and the river taxi down the Thames to Greenwich for a wander around the park there and take in the views from the Observatory. The undulating curves on ourCappelini Grey leather brogue make this leather brogue feel smart but without bordering on overdressed for an evening spent Central and then South of the River, where effortless sophistication is a must.
